(Jakarta, Poultry indonesia, Vol III, Maret 2008), The success of contract farming depends on the successful cooperation between kern and plasma. Both of them feel the ups and downs and the kern must be ready in giving the certainty on whatever conditions at the field.
This is the commitment of PT. Sierad Produce Tbk in having contract farming relationship with broiler breeder. There is no wonder that the contract farmers always grow, currently in the figure of 1,500 breeders spread around Java.
In order to form better relationship with the contract farmers, Contract Farming Division of Sierad Produce held Partners’ Gathering in 3 (three) places, namely: Botani Square Bogor (18 December 2007), Melia Purosani Hotel in Yogyakarta (5 February 2008) and Shangri-La Hotel in Surabaya (12 February 2008). These gathering were attended by President Commissioner of PT. Sierad Produce Tbk, Anton J Supit; Vice President Director of Sierad Produce, Rodolfo P Pontoja, Managing Director of Farming Division, Erik Surono; Director of Contract Farming Division, Sri Sumiyarsi and the contract farmers.
According to Sri Sumiyarsi, the gathering was used to maintain ties between the management of the company with its contract farmers and among the contract farmers itself and to improve knowledge and experience sharing. The events were intended to create loyalty among the contract farmers, increased population by way of expansion and acquiring new members, as well as increasing productivity of contract farmers.
In this occasion, PT. Sierad Produce also gave presentation on the challenging poultry condition in Indonesia. Such as increased production cost due to feedmill price increased, threats of diseases, unstable climate, and infrastructure of chicken-house that 90% of them are still in traditional form. Notwithstanding of these conditions, the breeders are expected to remain confident in doing the breeding activities and increase its populations, since this sector still has a room to grow due to low chicken consumption in Indonesia of 4.5 kg/capita/annum. Poultry products such as chicken and eggs are the source of animal protein that is cheap and easily consumed by the people.
Through this gathering, added Sri Sumiyarsi, the breeders are provided with alternative solutions to improve its productivity namely from seminar of modern broiler management techniques presented by business consultant Tony Unandar. The breeders were also urged to improve the infrastructures of chicken-houses, improve sanitation and bio-security, improve quality of broiler management and perform conversion from traditional chicken-house to the Closed House, in order to have better product quality and performance.
“Sierad Produce as the kern shall have the commitment to provide better and stable sapronak, provide optimum services to the contract farmers, speed-up the harvest process and payment of profit, as well as assisting breeders in obtaining funding for business expansion through banks in this matter BNI 46 Bank” said Sri Sumiyarsi.

The contract farmers gathering held in several places were well attended by the contract farmers. Such as in Botani Square Bogor attended by around 300 breeders from Tasikmalaya, Ciamis, Cianjur and other areas in West Java. In Surabaya, the attendants were enthusiastically asked questions regarding closed house and stated their intentions to use them.
In the meantime, the contract farmers Gathering in Yogyakarta was deemed special because it coincided with the 27th Anniversary of PT. Sierad Produce Tbk. “Sierad this year is 27 years old. Sierad was started from small shop in Jatinegara Jakarta selling eggs. Now, it becomes large corporation. If we work hard and diligently we will grow big too. Thank you to all of you. Without your supports, it will be impossible for Sierad to become this big” said Anton J Supit.
In this gathering, the breeders were also able to have consultation and visited the exhibition stand of Sierad Grup, such as Feedmill Balaraja and Sidoarjo, Sierad Industries, Division of Hatchery and Breeding, Division of Contract Farming and other stands from partners of Sierad Grup such as: PT. Biotek Indonesia, the largest supplier of vaccines and medicines, PT. Belfoods Indonesia, the largest customer of RPA and Bank BNI 46.
The event was lively due to numerous door-prizes, awards and appreciation for the best contract farmers, the longest and most consistent farmers, the fastest increased population, and the most influential contract farmers in growing its area. Good luck for Sierad Contract Farmers. Grow With Sierad.

Mr Tjondro Tjuntoro (Tegal – Central Java)
“Management of Sierad is getting better. They always provide guidance. Since 1998 up to now, I only achieved minus results in last October” said Tjondro Tjuntoro, owner of Tunas karya Farm. He became farmers with population of 12 thousand chickens, now the population has reached 71 thousands per cycle. The average Performance Index achieved is 283. ”I have no intention to move to another contract farming, although many offered me to do so” he said.
H.Siti Fatimah (Cianjur – West Java)
“I became contract farmer of Sierad since 1998. Previously I had tried with another company. But Sierad was better it has good familial relationship too. My message is please do not be late for harvesting” said Siti smiling. She currently has population of 140,000 chickens and nominated as the farmer with largest population in West Java.
Munif Kurniawan (Magetan – East Java)
“Production breeds of Sierad grow quickly. At the age of 35 days and harvesting the weight can reach 2 kilogram” said Kurniawan, or usually called Wawan. Apart from that, according to Wawan, the price of feedmill offered by Sierad has always been cheaper than other products. For example, for price in February Sierad offered the price of Rp.4,050/kg, while feedmill from another company has reached Rp.4,200 - Rp.4,300/kg.
